Cybersecurity threats target cloud providers, banks, and small businesses

Recent cybersecurity intelligence reports highlight several major breaches and evolving threats. Japanese cloud hosting provider Onamae Desktop Cloud confirmed a cyberattack that potentially affected over 26,000 customer servers through malware installation. In India, the State Bank of India disclosed a data breach involving nearly 3,900 customer records, including contact details, residential addresses, and identity-verification documents, though core services remained undisrupted.

Other significant incidents include a supply-chain attack on the open-source AI gateway LiteLLM, where stolen developer tokens were used to publish malicious packages, and a cyberattack on WordPress backup developer TeamUpdraft that allowed attackers to install backdoors on websites. Additionally, researchers have identified how AI-enabled antidetect browsers are being used to manage deceptive accounts for financial fraud and influence operations.

Concurrently, industry analysis indicates that small and micro-businesses are increasingly targeted by automated phishing and ransomware. Research suggests that many small firms remain underinsured or under-protected despite the rise of generative AI, which enables criminals to launch large-scale, convincing attacks at a low cost.
