Cycaltrust patents system to secure Physical AI supply chains
Cycaltrust Co., Ltd. has secured a new Japanese patent for its ‘Appraisal Certification System,’ a technology designed to verify the authenticity of assets across organizational boundaries. The system utilizes Chain of Custody (CoC) and Chain of Provenance (CoP) to ensure the integrity of physical products, digital content, and hybrid assets.
The technology aims to bridge the gap between hardware and software security, specifically addressing the risks associated with ‘Physical AI’—autonomous systems like drones, robots, and self-driving vehicles. By integrating Hardware Bill of Materials (HBOM) and Software Bill of Materials (SBOM), the system can verify that uncompromised software is running on authentic, non-counterfeit hardware.
Cycaltrust is employing an ‘open-close strategy’ by leading the development of the international standard ISO 26345 to provide a common framework for interoperability, while protecting specific implementations through a portfolio of over 40 patents. This approach is intended to secure global supply chains against counterfeit components and cyberattacks, particularly as new cybersecurity laws in Japan increase requirements for critical infrastructure providers.
