Cycles Lapierre seeks judicial reorganization to gain independence

French bicycle manufacturer Cycles Lapierre has filed for judicial reorganization (redressement judiciaire) with the Dijon Commercial Court. The move is intended to secure the company's commercial, operational, and financial independence from its parent company, Accell Group, following financial difficulties within the group.

Director General William Perrier stated that the procedure is a strategic step to allow the company to continue activities while seeking a new industrial or financial investor. Perrier emphasized, “We are not filing this request to give up. We are filing it to give us the means to fight.”

Lapierre reported a turnover of €99.1 million in 2025 and employs 106 people. The company attributed its financial strain to shifts in the bicycle market, including decreased sales, accumulated inventory, and margin pressure. To mitigate these issues, Lapierre has reduced finished goods stocks by approximately 47% between late 2023 and late 2024, and reduced operating losses by 41% between 2024 and 2025. A court hearing is scheduled for August 25.
