Cyclin-dependent kinase research evolves for new cancer therapies
A new paper published in Molecular Medicine provides a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) research and outlines emerging strategies for next-generation CDK-targeted cancer therapies. CDKs are enzymes that regulate cell-cycle progression and play roles in gene transcription, DNA repair, metabolism, and immune regulation. Their dysregulation is a key feature in many malignancies.
The publication holds historical significance for senior author Antonio Giordano, who led landmark studies in 1989 and 1994. His earlier research established early experimental links between the cyclin/CDK machinery and oncogenic transformation and led to the identification of CDK9.
