The mining town of Hidalgo del Parral in Chihuahua will host the Travesía de los Pueblos Mineros MTB 2026 on October 24 and 25. Organized by the Parral City Council and local sports institutes, the mountain biking competition features three distances: an 80km advanced route, a 55km intermediate route, and a 22km recreational ride. The event aims to combine mountain sports with the region's historical and natural tourism. Prize pools exceed 30,000 pesos, with elite categories for both men and women.
Additionally, Puebla has been selected to host the Desafío México by La Vuelta on March 7, 2027. This marks the third Mexican city to host the event, following Ensenada and Morelos. Local officials presented the initiative, noting that the cycling challenge is intended to boost local tourism, culture, and economic activity through sports-driven travel.
