Cycling events draw attention to Andalusia and Granada
The VI Gran Fondo Sierra de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas recently drew approximately one thousand participants to the Sierra de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park in Andalusia. Organized by the Club Ciclista Cazorla Bike, the 145-kilometer route featured a 2,090-meter elevation gain, including the challenging Puerto de Las Palomas climb.
Separately, the recent passage of La Vuelta through Granada has reignited discussions regarding the city's potential to host the UCI Road World Championships. The spectacular urban circuit, which included climbs near the Alhambra, received positive feedback from international commissaires. Local authorities and organizers are considering the proposal due to the significant economic and promotional impact such a global event could provide.
