Cycling events in Alentejo promote regional tourism

Major cycling events are being organized in the Alentejo region of Portugal to promote sports tourism and regional cooperation.

The fifth edition of the EuroBEC Granfondo is scheduled for April 11, 2027, with Elvas serving as the starting and finishing point. The race connects the eurocity of Elvas, Campo Maior, and Badajoz. Organizers expect over 2,000 cyclists to participate. The event will feature updated routes designed to highlight the spring landscapes of the Alentejo region.

Separately, the fourth edition of the Granfondo Serra D’Ossa is set for October 4. This event is expected to draw approximately 1,700 participants and will traverse five municipalities: Alandroal, Vila Viçosa, Borba, Estremoz, and Redondo. Local officials, including the Mayor of Borba, Pedro Esteves, emphasized that the collaboration between these municipalities is essential for managing the scale of the event and boosting the local economy through tourism.
