Poland expands cycling infrastructure and safety initiatives

Various regional developments and initiatives regarding cycling infrastructure and education are underway across Poland.

In the Góralice region, a new 2.3 km asphalt bicycle path has been completed on a former railway embankment, connecting to the ‘BLUE VELO’ route. The project, funded by the European Union, aims to enhance regional tourism and connect the municipalities of Trzcińsko-Zdrój and Myślibórz.

In Gniezno, a new pocket park featuring an elevated walkway has opened in the city center. Built on land with high groundwater levels, the project cost approximately 3.47 million PLN and was supported by EU funds to provide a green space for rest and education.

In Kraków, free educational bicycle tours are being organized to teach residents about traffic regulations and safe urban riding. Meanwhile, in Jaworzno, residents have identified several gaps in the local cycling network, specifically requesting better connections to neighboring cities like Bukowno and Sosnowiec, as well as improved safety in the city center.

Additionally, efforts to promote cycling safety for youth continue in Warsaw, where municipal services are organizing exams for children to obtain bicycle licenses.
