Cycling initiatives launched in France to promote bicycle use

Various community-led cycling initiatives are being offered in France to promote bicycle use and maintenance.

In Chesnay-Rocquencourt, the Atelier Vélo provides a space for individuals to repair their own bicycles. The workshop offers technical advice, diagnostics, and the loan of tools, along with spare parts such as brake pads and inner tubes available at cost. The service operates on alternating Tuesdays and accepts voluntary contributions.

In Pornic, the Pornic agglo Pays de Retz, in partnership with the association Le Poulp, is hosting a series of seven free workshops designed to help adults regain confidence in cycling. Running from late September to mid-November, these sessions focus on balance, physical aptitude, and handling electric-assist bicycles. The program also aims to familiarize participants with road sharing rules and new cycling infrastructure.
