Cycling organizers reveal 2027 race route details

The 2027 Tour de France route has been confirmed, featuring 71 kilometers of individual time trialing. The course includes six mountain stages, though the first mountain stage occurs after a 38-kilometer flat time trial. Tour director Christian Prudhomme stated the inclusion of more time trialing aims to restore balance among riders, noting that specialists like Remco Evenepoel and Paul Seixas will benefit.

Tadej Pogacar’s agent, Alex Carera, addressed claims that the route is designed to restrain Pogacar’s dominance. Carera argued that the focus on Pogacar by organizers and sponsors proves his massive influence on the sport, stating, “Whether these time trials will put him in difficulty or not, we'll see. He's still the man to beat.”

Separately, leaked details regarding the 2027 Giro d'Italia suggest a route starting in Trieste and passing through Slovenia. The reported course includes two individual time trials, one in Monza, and several summit finishes, including the Mortirolo and Monte Zoncolan. These details await official confirmation from RCS Sport.
