Cycling Tours Showcase Schleswig‑Holstein Coast and Havelland Countryside in Germany
Travel guides recommend several scenic bike routes for German cyclists. From Hamburg, the Schleswig‑Holstein tourism agency highlights four summer tours: a coastal ride along the North Sea at Büsum with sea breezes and fish‑bun stops; a historic rail‑bike excursion through the Holstein Switzerland between Malente and Lütjenburg; a Baltic‑sea route known as the "Fischbrötchenstraße" between Glücksburg and Travemünde; and the long‑distance Monks' Way that starts in Bremen, follows the coast through Fehmarn and continues into Denmark, passing medieval churches in Plön and Bosau.
A separate four‑day itinerary starts in Havelberg in eastern Germany and follows the Havel bike path through Semlin, the Hohennauener See, Brandenburg an der Havel and back to Rathenow. The route passes fields of sunflowers, nesting storks, and the Otto Lilienthal aviation museum in Stölln, offering a mix of natural scenery and historic sites.
