Cycling updates: Matheo Thys joins Isorex and Taylor Phinney returns to competition

Cyclist Matheo Thys has announced his move to the Isorex Cycling Team for the 2027 season. Reflecting on his 2026 season with the A. S. Construct – Fiscosurplus Cycling Team, the 16-year-old from Papegem noted a period of both progress and setbacks. Despite facing crashes and mechanical issues that prevented him from securing his first victory, Thys completed 28 races, achieving three podium finishes and several top-ten placements.

In separate cycling news, former world champion Taylor Phinney has made a professional comeback. The 36-year-old American returned to competition at the Track Cycling World Championships in Shanghai, marking his first appearance at the event in sixteen years. Phinney, who previously held world titles in the individual pursuit and found success in road time trials, stated that discussions regarding the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics motivated his return to high-level competition.
