Truck Overtaking Causes Light Injuries to Cyclist in Waltrop, Germany

On the afternoon of 17 July 2026, a 34‑year‑old cyclist from Datteln was riding northward on Oberlipper Straße in Waltrop when a truck attempted a right‑hand turn and overtook him at high speed. The cyclist swerved to avoid a collision, lost balance and fell, sustaining only minor injuries.

Police reported that the cyclist subsequently sought medical attention on his own. The incident caused light damage to the bicycle, estimated at about €400. No other parties were reported injured.
