Visma and Movistar face rider absences ahead of 2026 Tour de France

Team Visma | Lease a Bike announced its 2026 Tour de France roster without any Dutch cyclists, prompting criticism from former rider Bobbie Traksel, who argued the team should include a Dutch rider. The eight‑man squad includes Jonas Vingegaard, Edoardo Affini, Bruno Armirail, Victor Campenaerts, Matteo Jorgenson, Per Strand Hagenes and Sepp Kuss.

Visma later reported that affi ni, who crashed heavily in the Italian National Time Trial Championships, suffered no fractures and remained conscious. The team will monitor his recovery closely, hoping he remains fit for the Tour start in Barcelona.

Movistar Team confirmed that Spanish rider Iván Romeo will miss the Tour de France and the upcoming Spanish National Championships due to a bout of influenza that forced him to withdraw from the Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes. The team said the rider will focus on a full recovery before targeting later season races.
