Cyclist killed in Praia Grande car crash and fire

A cyclist was killed in Praia Grande, São Paulo, after being struck by a vehicle that subsequently crashed into a wall and caught fire. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM on the Via Expressa Sul in the Tupiry neighborhood.

Authorities report that the 32-year-old driver lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle, hitting the cyclist before colliding with a building wall. The impact caused the car to ignite. While the driver and a 42-year-old passenger managed to escape the vehicle before firefighters arrived, the cyclist's body was found carbonized beneath the car.

A breathalyzer test conducted on the driver revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.61 mg/L. The driver was arrested in flagrante and faces charges including homicide, drunk driving, participating in a street race, and causing bodily injury.
