Cyclist Ronan Augé repatriated to France after Malaysia crash

French cyclist Ronan Augé, a rider for Unibet Rose Rockets, has returned to Bordeaux following a severe crash during the Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia. Augé sustained life-threatening injuries on October 2, including multiple skull and bone fractures, a pneumothorax, and a traumatic brain injury that initially required a medically induced coma.

His repatriation involved a specialized medical flight via Singapore, where he traveled on a stretcher accompanied by a doctor and a nurse. Upon arrival in France, Augé began a period of medical examinations to assess his neurological and structural injuries. One significant complication is damage to his facial nerve, which has resulted in temporary paralysis on the left side of his face.

Augé faces a long rehabilitation process as he works to recover from the extensive physical trauma sustained during the race.
