Cyclist safety warnings issued regarding heavy vehicle blind spots

Cyclists are being advised to avoid heavy vehicle blind spots to prevent fatal accidents. Data indicates that out of 234 cyclist deaths in 2025, 41 occurred due to collisions with trucks.

To mitigate risks, cyclists are encouraged to stay well away from the sides of trucks and buses. Safety recommendations include positioning oneself behind a vehicle until it completes a maneuver or staying at least two meters ahead of a vehicle that is overtaking, while maintaining eye contact with the driver to ensure visibility.
