Cyclists organize charity rides for earthquake relief in Venezuela and Colombia

Cyclists in Venezuela and Colombia are organizing sporting events to raise funds and support for communities affected by recent seismic activity.

In Venezuela, approximately 700 cyclists participated in the “Pedaleamos por Venezuela” event. The 120-kilometer route began in Caracas and concluded at the Virgin of Carmen monument in Higuerote. The group included elite athletes, national selection members, and amateurs. The event included a minute of silence for victims of the June 24 tragedy and aimed to support the recovery of communities in Caracas and La Guaira.

In Colombia, the “Rodemos por el Chocó” initiative, promoted by Olympic champion Mariana Pajón, raised approximately $10 million Colombian pesos through registration fees to assist earthquake victims in the Chocó region. The event involved various national cycling teams and local athletes. In addition to the cycling event, the municipality of El Santuario has previously sent nine tons of aid to affected areas.
