Ireland and Wales announce squads for Nations Championship
Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has named a 36-man squad for the upcoming Nations Championship November series. Dan Sheehan has been appointed captain for the home fixtures at Aviva Stadium against Argentina, Fiji, and South Africa. The squad includes two uncapped Ulster players, Jamie Benson and James McNabney. However, the selection faces an injury crisis, with regular captain Caelan Doris, Jack Conan, Jack Crowley, and several others unavailable.
In Wales, head coach Steve Tandy has confirmed a 39-player squad for their home matches against Japan, New Zealand, and Australia at the Principality Stadium. Dewi Lake will captain the side. The Welsh squad features three uncapped players—Rhys Barratt, Che Hope, and Aneurin Owen—and sees the return of several players who missed the July window. Notable omissions include Tommy Reffell, Olly Cracknell, and Toby Faletau.
