Cyndi Lauper releases expanded 40th anniversary edition of True Colors

Cyndi Lauper is celebrating the 40th anniversary of her second studio album, ‘True Colors’, with an expanded commemorative edition. The project includes a digital release featuring 29 tracks, combining the original album with unreleased recordings and live performances.

A central highlight of this anniversary edition is the completion of ‘The River Cried’, a song written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly during the original 1986 sessions. Although Lauper worked on the track decades ago, it was left unfinished and excluded from the original album. While Patty Smyth released a version of the song in 1987, Lauper has now returned to the recording to complete it for this release.

The expanded edition also features an unreleased version of The Beatles’ ‘Across the Universe’ and live recordings from a March 1987 performance at Le Zénith in Paris. In addition to the digital version, a limited edition double vinyl release featuring rare session photographs is scheduled for release on December 4.
