Cyndi Lauper to auction iconic wardrobe at Bonhams

Singer Cyndi Lauper is auctioning a significant portion of her personal wardrobe through Bonhams in an event titled ‘Cyndi Lauper: Suitcase of Memories’. The two-part auction is scheduled to begin on October 22, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of her second album, ‘True Colors’.

The collection includes several iconic pieces of pop history, such as the newspaper skirt featured on the ‘True Colors’ album cover, the leopard-print pajamas from the ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ music video, and the red plaid dress worn at the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards in 1984.

In addition to her custom-made early outfits created with the help of Laura Wills, the auction features high-fashion pieces from Lauper’s personal closet, including items from Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2008 collection and a white bustier from Vivienne Westwood’s Spring 1996 collection.
