Cypriot sailor Pavlos Kontides wins silver at Los Angeles Grand Slam, hits 30 international medals
Cyprus's Pavlos Kontides claimed the silver medal in the ILCA 7 (Laser) class at the Los Angeles Grand Slam in San Pedro, finishing behind Australia's Matt Wearn (gold) and Britain’s Michael Becket (bronze). The result marks Kontides' 30th medal at a major international sailing event, adding to his two Olympic silvers, multiple European and World Championship podiums, and numerous World Cup successes.
Following the Los Angeles event, Kontides will pause for a short family break before targeting the ILCA 7 World Championships in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, at the end of August. He expressed satisfaction with his performance and plans to continue competing at the highest level.
