Cyprus Agriculture Minister visits CAPO to discuss policy and funds

Cyprus Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Christos Senekis visited the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization (CAPO) in Nicosia to discuss the implementation of agricultural policy. Senekis described CAPO as a ‘key implementation arm’ responsible for converting ministry policy into action by directing resources to producers.

Andreas Kyprianou, Commissioner of Agricultural Payments, stated that the goal is to fully utilize European funds during the current programming period and to increase the primary sector's contribution to the Gross National Product. CAPO is currently processing payments for farmers, livestock breeders, and processors.

Regarding the presence of the West Nile virus in horses in the Paralimni area, Senekis noted that the epidemiological situation is being monitored. He stated there is no cause for concern as there is no transmission from animal to animal or from animal to human, though measures will be strengthened if necessary.
