Cyprus announces support measures for breast cancer patients
Cyprus President Nicos Christodoulides has announced two new support measures for breast cancer patients following recommendations from Europa Donna Cyprus.
The first measure provides a monthly financial allowance to vulnerable patients during their treatment and for up to 12 months after completion. The second measure provides free transportation for patients from remote areas of the Nicosia district to oncology centers. This transportation service is currently planned as an initial phase for the Nicosia region.
During the announcement at the ‘22nd March with Pink Figures’ parade, the President emphasized the need for a holistic approach to cancer care, including diagnosis, treatment speed, psychological support, and rehabilitation. He also noted that the upcoming National Cancer Institute will play a vital role in implementing policies covering prevention, research, and long-term follow-up care.
