Cyprus avocado production exceeds €3 million in annual value

The annual production value of Cypriot avocados has exceeded €3 million, according to Christos Senekis, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. Speaking at the 2nd Avocado Festival in Argaka, the Minister noted that cultivated areas have surpassed 4,000 decares, driven by steady investment and the organized trade efforts of the SEDIGEP Polis Chrysochous producer organization.

To support the agricultural sector, the government is utilizing the 2023–2027 Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan, which includes €454 million in funding. Of this, €67.5 million is allocated for investments and the establishment of new farmers. Additionally, the government has approved €2.5 million in support measures for 2026 to offset rising costs for fertilizers, agricultural supplies, and fuel. The European Union has also provided €4.6 million to assist farmers affected by the 2025 drought.
