Cyprus Braces for Storms and Possible Hail Through the Week
A weak low‑pressure system and unstable air mass are bringing unsettled weather to Cyprus starting Wednesday. The Department of Meteorology expects partly to mainly cloudy skies with scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms, especially over the mountains and the island’s eastern half. Hail may occur during any thunderstorm.
Winds will shift from the south‑west to north‑west, ranging from force 4‑5 and strengthening to force 5‑6, with gusts up to force 7 along the southern coasts. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate. Temperatures are forecast at around 26 °C inland, 24 °C on the southern and eastern coasts, 21 °C on the western and northern coasts, and 16 °C at higher elevations, all below seasonal averages.
The unsettled pattern is expected to continue through Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with intermittent cloud, isolated rain and further thunderstorms, and the possibility of hail remaining throughout the period.
