Cyprus civil service workforce grows 0.6% to 53,747 in July 2026

The total number of civil servants in Cyprus reached 53,747 in July 2026, representing a 0.6% increase (300 people) compared to July 2025, according to data released by the Statistical Service.

Growth was primarily driven by the Education Service, which saw a 2.6% increase in staff. Employment within the Security Forces also rose by 0.7%. In contrast, the Public Service experienced a 1.0% decline in employment.

Regarding contract types, the number of indefinite contract employees (EAX) rose by 1.7% overall. Permanent employees saw a marginal increase of 0.3%, reaching 32,935. For the seven-month period from January to July 2026, the average number of civil servants increased by 0.3% compared to the same period in 2025.
