Cyprus Courts Hear Separate Violent Crime Cases in Larnaca and Aradippou
A 36‑year‑old man of African origin appeared before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca and pleaded not guilty to eleven charges stemming from a March 2026 incident in which he threatened two women with a knife, forced them into an apartment and was later arrested. The suspect remains in custody and a hearing is scheduled for 12 October. The two women were taken to hospital for medical examinations.
In a separate case, a 22‑year‑old was referred to trial for attempted murder after a stabbing in Aradippou on 19 July 2026 left the victim with multiple knife wounds. The victim, treated at the General Hospital of Nicosia, was removed from a ventilator and is out of danger. The suspect was arrested two hours after the attack, admitted responsibility and is now in police custody.
