Cyprus faces heat wave as temperatures rise to 40°C

The Cyprus Meteorological Service forecasts a period of unusually high temperatures across the island. Daytime highs are expected to reach 40 °C in the interior, with coastal areas seeing 31‑34 °C and mountain regions around 30 °C. A seasonal low‑pressure system will keep the sky mostly clear, though increased cloudiness and occasional light fog may develop in inland and northeastern areas.

Winds will be light to moderate, shifting from north‑west to north‑east directions, and sea conditions will remain relatively calm. Nighttime temperatures are forecast to drop to the low 20s, providing limited relief before the heat continues over the next several days.
