Cyprus Health Minister promotes rural healthcare equality
Cyprus Health Minister Neofytos Charalambides emphasized the critical role of public health centers in reducing geographical inequalities during the first anniversary of the Hatzigianni Health Center in Akaki.
Charalambides stated that creating modern, well-staffed facilities outside urban centers is a key part of the government's effort to ensure that a person's place of residence does not determine the quality of care they receive. The center serves Akaki and 15 surrounding communities, significantly strengthening primary healthcare in Western Nicosia.
The facility has enabled the development of more services, including examinations and minor procedures, which previously required residents to travel to the city. This local access provides faster service and increased security for the community's health needs.
