Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides has announced increased state support for the Scouts Association of Cyprus. During a ceremony at the Presidential Palace for the awarding of the Scout Diploma of the Republic, the President revealed that state contributions will rise from €50,000 to €75,000. Additionally, the Council of Ministers has decided to provide an extra €100,000 to the Scouts Association of Cyprus specifically for camping activities.
Christodoulides described the financial support not as an expense, but as an ‘investment in the future of our homeland.’ During the event, 110 young people from across Cyprus received the highest scouting distinction. The President praised the movement for its values of altruism and solidarity, noting its historical significance in Cyprus since 1914.
