Cyprus International Film Festival returns to Nicosia in 2026

The 21st Cyprus International Film Festival (CYIFF) is scheduled to take place from September 21 to 25, 2026, at the Melina Merkouri in Nicosia. The event aims to connect international cinema with Cyprus through a diverse program that integrates film with photography, theater, and contemporary cultural expression.

Key highlights of the festival include an International Competition featuring global creators and a special focus on Chinese cinema, including the world premiere of ‘La Croix (The Crossing)’ by Hu Xueyang.

A dedicated section titled ‘1974 - Memory, Stories & People’ will explore the historical memory of Cyprus through personal stories and cinematic perspectives. This includes the documentary ‘Queen of Cyprus’ by Panikos Panayiotou, which examines the experiences of Cypriot women regarding loss, resilience, and identity.
