Cyprus issued yellow warning for severe thunderstorms

The Cyprus Meteorological Service has issued a yellow warning for strong, isolated thunderstorms effective from 13:00 to 18:00 today. The weather instability is expected to impact mountainous areas, the interior, and potentially the eastern coasts.

Forecasts indicate that rainfall intensity may locally exceed 35 mm per hour, with the possibility of hail during these storms. Winds are expected to be variable and weak initially, becoming moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and potentially strong at 5 Beaufort in coastal areas or during storms.

Temperatures are expected to reach approximately 34°C in the interior, 30°C on the western and southwestern coasts, and 32°C elsewhere. The unstable air mass is predicted to recede by Thursday, with clearer weather expected for the remainder of the week.
