Cyprus judiciary manages major criminal and corruption cases

With the start of the new judicial year in Cyprus, several high-profile criminal and investigative cases are progressing through various stages of the legal system. These cases involve matters of public interest, institutional transparency, and accountability.

One major investigation is the ‘State Mafia’ case, which stemmed from allegations in a book by journalist Makarios Drusiotis. The Independent Authority against Corruption completed a massive inquiry in 2026, producing a 3,000-page report based on 214 sessions, 150 witnesses, and evidence from 41 state departments.
