Cyprus police arrest multiple individuals in drug-related operations

Police in Cyprus conducted several operations resulting in multiple arrests for drug-related offenses and other crimes.

In Lefkoşa, Güzelyurt, and Yılmazköy, four individuals were arrested after being found in possession of suspected narcotics. In Lefkoşa, authorities seized approximately 150 grams of cannabis and a sum of 38,500 TL and 10 Euro believed to be proceeds from drug sales. In Güzelyurt, a 32-year-old man was detained after police observed him driving erratically on a motorcycle. In Yılmazköy, two individuals were arrested following the inspection of a suspicious vehicle.

In Limassol, a coordinated operation led to the arrest of four people. Police seized over 650 grams of cannabis, cannabis resin, an air pistol, and approximately 2,765 Euro. The investigation involves charges of drug possession with intent to supply and money laundering.

Broad-scale police patrols across Cyprus also resulted in 16 arrests for various offenses, including illegal drug possession, illegal stay in the Republic, assault on a police officer, and stabbing. During these operations, police inspected 662 vehicles and 865 individuals, issuing hundreds of traffic violations and conducting alcohol and drug tests.
