Cyprus moves to buy Israeli Merkava tanks, sparking Turkish alarm
The Republic of Cyprus is in advanced talks with Israel to acquire Merkava main battle tanks, including the Merkava III and Merkava IV models. The purchase is intended to replace the aging Russian‑made T‑80U tanks that currently serve in the Cypriot National Guard.
