Cyprus police investigate Paphos burglaries and Agia Napa attempted murder

Police in Cyprus are investigating two distinct waves of criminal activity. In the Paphos district, an organized group of four individuals on a single motorcycle carried out ten separate burglaries, thefts, and acts of vandalism between 03:00 and 05:00 on a Saturday. The targets included three gas stations, three pharmacies, two mini-markets, and two kiosks, with stolen goods valued at approximately 4,000 euros. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and considering potential links to similar recent incidents in Larnaca and Limassol.

Separately, in Agia Napa, authorities are investigating a targeted attempted murder of a 33-year-old man. The victim was ambushed near his home while driving from work. During the attack, gunmen fired indiscriminately, striking both the victim's vehicle and a nearby residence, hitting a garden and a balcony. The victim escaped uninjured.

Investigators have recovered shell casings from a nearby field and located a burned-out vehicle in Avgouros, which is believed to be the suspects' getaway car. The vehicle was using fraudulent license plates. Police suspect the attack may be linked to the victim's brother, a convicted inmate involved in a 2016 quadruple homicide in Agia Napa.
