Cyprus President Calls for Justice on 30th Anniversary of Isak‑Solomou Killings

On 15 July 2026, Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides welcomed a delegation of motorcyclists from the Isak‑Solomou Memory Initiative at the Presidential Palace. He said the government is taking all necessary steps against those responsible for the 1996 murders of Tasos Isak and Solomou, urging the public to honor their memory by continuing the struggle for freedom of movement and an end to occupation.

In Athens, Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas met the same initiative, marking the 30‑year anniversary. He reaffirmed Greece’s respect for the victims, pledged to pursue the pending arrest warrants and the 2008 European Court of Human Rights decision, and highlighted ongoing cooperation with Cyprus. The ceremony included a symbolic ride through historic sites in Athens before a memorial event at the House of Cyprus.
