Cyprus Public Transport responds to Audit Office report on Nicosia bus services
Cyprus Public Transport (CPT) has responded to a report by the Audit Office regarding deficiencies in Nicosia's public bus services. While the company acknowledges the weaknesses identified in the audit, it argues that many issues have already been addressed since the assessment took place in late 2025.
CPT contested the interpretation of a finding stating that 63% of participants would not use the bus again. The company clarified that this figure was derived from a sample of 110 Audit Office employees acting as undercover passengers—most of whom owned private vehicles—rather than a representative survey of regular commuters.
Furthermore, CPT attributed responsibility for certain critical infrastructure needs, such as bus stops and ticketing systems, to the Ministry of Transport. The company highlighted a 14.5% increase in passenger trips between January and August 2026 compared to the previous year as evidence of service usage.
