Cyprus recruitment drive targets UK diaspora with 110 specialist jobs

Cyprus’ government launched its most ambitious diaspora recruitment initiative to date, holding back‑to‑back events in Birmingham on 22 June and London on 23 June. Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki represented the government, presenting progress from the first year of the Minds in Cyprus programme.

Twenty‑four Cypriot companies and organisations showcased more than 110 specialist positions across technology, fintech, financial services, research, innovation and energy, attracting over 350 Cypriot professionals living in the United Kingdom. The platform Opportunities for Talent already lists over 330 vacancies and has registered more than 700 professionals.

The programme offers targeted tax incentives, including a new 25 % income‑tax exemption for Cypriots who have spent seven years abroad and an existing 50 % exemption for certain cases. Additional support measures cover faster processing of professional licences, qualification recognition, residence and work permits for spouses, family assistance on education and relocation, and a dedicated Information Hub. As Piki said, “Minds in Cyprus is not simply asking people to come back. It is creating the conditions so that the idea of returning or collaborating can become a real choice.”
