Cyprus state employment climbs modestly to 55,571 in April 2026

Cyprus' total state workforce reached 55,571 in April 2026, a year‑on‑year rise of 0.1% and an increase of 81 employees from April 2025, according to the Cyprus Statistical Service. The civil service saw a slight decline, while the Education Service recorded a 1.8% gain.

In March 2026, the number of state employees was 55,367, up 42 people (0.1%) from the same month a year earlier. Employment fell in the Public Service and Security Forces by 0.8% and 0.7% respectively, offset by the rise in education staff.
