Cyprus trade deficit widens as Greece deficit narrows in early 2026
Cyprus reported that its commercial deficit rose to €3.057 billion for January‑April 2026, driven by a 4.8% increase in total imports and a 9.3% fall in exports compared with the same period a year earlier. Imports for the four‑month span reached €4.697 billion, while exports fell to €1.640 billion.
In Greece, the April 2026 trade deficit shrank 25.2% to €2.156 billion as imports rose 9.6% to €7.353 billion and exports jumped 35.7% to €5.197 billion. Over the first quarter, the overall deficit fell 8% to €10.439 billion, reflecting stronger export growth and modest import increases.
