Cyprus veteran Reşat Çolak reunites with former Douglas DC-3 aircraft

Reşat Çolak, a 92-year-old retired non-commissioned officer and Cyprus veteran, recently reunited with a Douglas DC-3 (C-47) aircraft that he previously operated. The meeting took place in the Sivrihisar district of Eskişehir during an event supported by the 11th Air Transport Main Base Command.

Çolak, who described the aircraft as his ‘lover’ due to his deep affection for it, visited the plane, which is currently part of the M. S. Ö. Air and Space Museum inventory. He shared memories of flying the aircraft, noting its historical significance during World War II and the pleasure he derived from operating such a machine during his service at the Etimesgut 12th Base.

Reflecting on his 75-year connection to the Air Force, Çolak expressed that seeing the aircraft brought back cherished memories and made him feel significantly younger.
