Greece weather transition brings cooler temperatures and wind

Greece is experiencing a gradual transition from summer to autumn weather patterns. While high temperatures persist in some western and southern regions, a general decline in mercury levels is expected across much of the country.

Meteorological reports indicate that strong northern winds, known as 'meltemia', will continue to affect the Aegean Sea, with gusts reaching up to 7 or 8 Beaufort in certain areas. This increase in wind speed has raised concerns regarding fire risks.

Weather instability is forecasted to increase toward the end of the week. Localized rain and thunderstorms are expected, particularly in the mountainous regions of the Pindus range, the Peloponnese, and parts of northern Greece. A more organized deterioration of weather conditions, characterized by more frequent precipitation and cooler temperatures, is anticipated to become prominent starting around September 13-14.
