Cyprus wins gold and silver in athletics at Mediterranean Games

Cyprus achieved significant success in athletics at the 20th Mediterranean Games. Filippa Fotopoulou secured the gold medal in the women’s long jump with an impressive first attempt of 6.59m, a mark that remained unsurpassed throughout the competition.

In other track and field events, Elena Kulicenko earned a silver medal in the high jump with a performance of 1.92m, improving her personal best for the year. Milan Trajkovic also contributed to the medal tally by winning silver in the 110m hurdles.

The Cypriot delegation has now reached a total of 13 medals at the games, consisting of 5 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze. Beyond athletics, the national team showed strength in gymnastics, with eight individual finalists, and in women’s 3x3 basketball, where the team qualified for the semifinals.
