Cyril Aris film ‘A Sad and Beautiful World’ to be released in August

The film ‘A Sad and Beautiful World’, directed by Cyril Aris, is set for release on August 20. The romantic drama, which received the Audience Award at the Venice Film Festival, follows the lives of Nino (Hasan Akil) and Yasmina (Mounia Akl).

Born in the same Lebanese hospital in Beirut during a period of intense chaos, the two characters grow up as childhood friends before losing contact. Decades later, they reunite and fall in love, though their differing outlooks on life create tension. While Nino embraces his family's restaurant and a sense of joy, Yasmina, a disillusioned professional, considers emigrating to Europe. The story explores their connection against the backdrop of Lebanon's turbulent history, using humor and tragedy to depict their struggle to stay together amidst instability.
