Cystic Fibrosis Foundation issues new reproductive health guidance
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has released the first clinical guidance for reproductive health care throughout the lifespan for individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF). This development follows the introduction of CFTR modulators, such as the triple-combination modulator Trikafta, which have significantly improved quality of life and longevity for many patients.
Due to these medical advancements, pregnancy rates have nearly doubled in the U.S. and the U.K. as women with CF are increasingly able to conceive naturally. The new guidance, published in August 2026, recommends that clinicians provide age-appropriate education early and engage in discussions regarding reproductive health at least annually starting in the teenage years.
