Czech actors Jaromír Hanzlík and Bedřich Prokoš honored in career retrospectives

Recent retrospectives highlight the lives and careers of prominent Czech actors Jaromír Hanzlík and Bedřich Prokoš.

Jaromír Hanzlík, known for his intuitive acting talent, bypassed formal training at DAMU after being personally encouraged by actors Jiřina Jirásková and Miloš Kopecký to join the Vinohrady Theatre. Hanzlík maintained a deep friendship with Kopecký and was also recognized as an honorary expert of Pilsner Urquell beer.

Bedřich Prokoš, a prolific actor who appeared in films from 1950 onwards, gained widespread fame through comedies written by Ladislav Smoljak and Zdeněk Svěrák, such as ‘Vrchní, prchni!’. Prokoš served as the artistic director of the National Theatre in 1958 and left a lasting legacy in Czech cinema and theater.
