Czech Actors Ladislav Trojan Remembered, Bolek Polívka Turns 77

Ladislav Trojan (born 1 August 1932) was a Czech stage and television actor whose career spanned more than five decades. He began in amateur theatre, later joined the Realistické divadlo and the Prague municipal theatres, and became widely known for his role in the TV series “Three Men in the Cottage”. He died peacefully in his sleep on 18 December 2022 at the age of 90, a fact announced by his sons, director Ondřej Trojan and actor Ivan Trojan.

Bolek Polívka, who turned 77, is celebrated for his physical comedy and long‑standing presence in Czech film and theatre. A graduate of the Brno Academy of Performing Arts (JAMU), he broke through with Věra Chytilová’s 1980 film “Kalamita” and later gained fame in “Kurvahošigutntag”. He has received two Czech Lion awards for his performances and continues to act, direct and stage new productions at his own theatre in Brno, most recently the play “Sága aneb Vizovský zázrak”.
