Czech AI app enables ten‑minute screen for early dementia detection

A team of Czech developers has created an artificial‑intelligence‑driven application that tests memory on a computer or tablet in about ten minutes. The tool looks for subtle signs that may indicate the early stages of dementia and flags users for further medical assessment. It does not provide a diagnosis; positive results should lead to a detailed examination by a general practitioner, geriatrist or neurologist.

Dementia affects more than 100,000 people in the Czech Republic, most often Alzheimer’s disease, and the prevalence is expected to rise as the population ages. By detecting potential problems sooner, the app aims to encourage earlier clinical evaluation and improve the chances of effective treatment or management.

The program is intended to raise public awareness of memory issues, which many people tend to dismiss as normal aging, and to prompt timely medical attention before conditions progress.
